Bio
Cagatay Edemen was born in Istanbul. He has received B.Sc. degree from Marmara University and the Ph.D. degree from Işık University in Electronics Engineering . He is currently an academic faculty member at Özyeğin University, who began his appointment in November of 2013. He was serving as coordinator and researcher in the EU COST Action between 2014-2016 OPTICWISE which aims to serve as a high-profile consolidated European scientific platform for interdisciplinary optical wireless communication (OWC) research activities. Research: Dr. Edemen has been working on several research projects with a focus on information, communication theory and networks in wireless systems. In particular, he conducts research in information theoretic aspect of multi-user cooperative communication, Most recently, he has been doing some work on improving innovative techniques for the multi-user capacity and optimal power policy. His work on this subject has included information-theoretic results on the achievable throughput of multi-user channel in mutual-information terms. Another field of recent interest to him is the field of optical communication. In particular, he is interested in the applications of Visible Light Communication. He holds both national and international patents on this subject. In addition to the theoretical studies above, he also had applied studies which focused on new generation mobile technology, namely WIMAX/WIMAGIC and LTE advanced in two pioneer Turkish mobile network operators, Turkcell and Avea. The main objective of these projects were to make contributions to the standards IEEE 802.16m and 3GPP LTE. Dr. Edemen was awarded the IEEE WCNC Best Paper Award for his work titled ” Achievable Rates for the Three User Cooperative Multiple Access Channel” and IEEE senior member in 2022.
